I was born and raised Christian. I had ideas of what Christianity looked like but never fully understood what it felt like. I went through religious motions day after day, trying to please others and this world, believing that is what pleased God. I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety at a very young age and was on so many different medications for years. I sought out approval and comfort through sexual relationships, trying to cope with the depression and anxiety. I believed if I was wanted by people, I was good enough. The Lord took all the people away, and I was left hurt and broken. I was stripped and felt so inadequate until I encountered the feeling of God’s presence, peace, grace, and his love. I knew life didn’t have to be dark and broken anymore. I get to choose happiness and life, not because of this world but because Jesus Christ died for me to walk in His goodness. I am no longer on medication to treat my depression. I eagerly seek God’s approval above anything this earth could ever offer me. I am fully healed by the blood of Jesus and now walking in the freedom that is my inheritance.
