This week, Pastor Jena delivered a powerful Mother’s Day message, calling women to embrace their God-given identity as helpers, life-givers, and warriors. As helpers, we are strong, life-giving supporters modeled after God’s own help; As mothers (both biological and spiritual), we are nurturers who birth and sustain life through love, care, and sacrifice; and as warriors, we are called to rise up, intercede, and stand against darkness with God’s truth. Each role reflects a divine calling to walk in the works God prepared for us, living as reflections of His strength, compassion, and courage.

Ephesians 2:10

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

Ladies, we are not an afterthought or a side addition to God’s creation. We were created with divine intention—to be helpers, mothers, and warriors in the Kingdom of God.

1. You Are a Helper

    Genesis 2:18

“It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”

    Psalm 33:20

“Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield” He is our Ezer.”

    Deuteronomy 33:29

“Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord, the shield of your help, and the sword of your triumph!”

The word “helper” (ezer) in Hebrew means a powerful, life-giving support, like a stronghold in battle

    2. You Are a Mother or Life-Giver

    Genesis 3:20

“Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living.”

Being a mother or life-giver means you:

    • Birth and nurture new things (visions, ministries, relationships).
    • Speak words of life that restore hearts.
    • Care for others through acts of love and sacrifice.
    • Motherhood is a life of walking this out. Living as an ezer. Supporting, encouraging, praying and serving your children or others around you.

    3. You Are a Warrior

    Judges 5:7

“Village life had ceased until I Deborah arose, arose a mother in Israel.”

    As warriors, we:

    • Fight in prayer for our families and communities.
    • Stand firm against the lies of the enemy.
    • Restore individuals and communities with God’s truth.

    Discussion Questions:

    1. Although this week’s sermon was especially directed toward the women, it offered powerful truths and encouragement that everyone can take to heart. How does redefining “helper” or “ezer” — a strong, life-giving support — change how you view your role in relationships or community?
    2. In what ways are you currently nurturing life—whether through people, ministries, creativity, or encouragement?
    3. What does it look like to “fight in prayer” in your current season?

Application questions: Which of these three roles—helper, life-giver, or warrior—do you feel God is calling you to grow in this week?
